Grandfather

My grandfather was an amazing man. He retired in his mid 60's and lived to be 99 (he passed away in January 2006).
During his retirement he traveled the world extensively. He also was an accomplished gardener who had one of the most beautiful gardens in town with numerous flowers and an impressive Bon Sai collection. He also studied and was conversational in Japanese.

From 1976-1981 if grandfather and grandmother weren't traveling I would spend Friday night at there house and stay until Saturday evening. I have numerous memories that will last the rest of my life of all the different activities I did with grandmother and grandfather.

One thing Grandfather and I both loved to watch was Pro wrestling.

Every Saturday morning Grandfather and I would watch Vancouver Allstar Wrestling on the Canadian channel. On Saturday afternoon we would watch Portland Big Time Wrestling on KEPR out of the Tri Cities.

While I followed many "real" sports (in fact I could be considered a sports fanatic) nothing quite grabbed my attention like those old wrestling shows.

This blog will try to capture the spirit of those care free Saturday afternoons where wrestlers like Jimmy Snuka and Roddy Piper and boxers like Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler captured my imagination and provided me with lifelong memories.
